Younger sister of Lightning and fiancée to Snow, eighteen-year-old Serah is the catalyst for many of the events of FFXIII. Her becoming a l'Cie causes Lightning to join the Purge in pursuit of her, and for Snow to fight so hard to get back to her side. When she turns into a crystal, both Lightning and Snow are devastated, though they react in very different ways.
Serah is the main character of the sequel, FFXIII-2.
Dajh is the six-year-old son of Sazh. Like Serah, he was turned into a l'Cie just a few days before the start of the game; unlike the other l'Cie, though, he serves the Sanctum. Dajh gains the ability to sense things from Pulse, but Sazh knows it's only a matter of time before he either turns Cie'th or becomes a crystal. As such, Sazh decides to try and take on the fal'Cie himself to try and save his son.
Dajh has a great love of chocobos. His father was buying one for him when he was turned into a l'Cie.
The chocobo chick Sazh bought for his son at a stall in Euride Gorge. Dajh only had one chance to meet the chick while he was in the Sanctum's custody, and has yet to give it a name. It tagged along with Sazh when he left Dajh and joined the Purge in hopes of facing the fal'Cie and saving his son. The chick lives in Sazh's afro. In FFXIII, its gender is unknown.
Nora is Hope's mother. She took her son on a vacation from their home in Palumpolum, but their being in Bodhum meant they were caught up in the Purge. Nora protects her son as best she can, and when they get away from the Purge train, decides to take up arms to defend him. Unfortunately, she's caught in an explosion and is killed defending Snow. Hope blames him for his mother's death.
Bartholomew is Hope's father. He's something of a workaholic and is bad at expressing his feelings towards his teenage son, but loves him dearly. When the party reaches Palumpolum, Hope manages to reach his home and meets back up with his father, telling him of his mother's death. His father agrees to hide Hope and the other l'Cie despite his position in the government, and later escapes with the Cavalry.
